I'm a Santa Cruz–based artist creating hand-carved wooden objects inspired by landscape, material, and the quiet process of making.

My path to woodworking has been anything but linear. I studied architecture and later lived and worked in Hawaiʻi and Japan, where I developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between people, place, and the natural world. After moving to the Bay Area, I spent over a decade working in data science, drawn to another way of understanding patterns and the world around us.

After becoming a parent, I found myself longing for a slower, more tactile way of working. I began carving wood with simple hand tools and quickly fell in love with the process - the patience it requires, the conversation with the material, and the feeling that every piece teaches me something new.

Today my work is shaped by the landscapes that surround me in Santa Cruz: redwood forests, tide pools, windswept coastlines, weathered wood, and native plants. I'm interested in creating objects that invite closer observation and carry a sense of quiet, curiosity, and connection to place.

I'm largely self-taught and continue to learn through experimentation, workshops, conversations with other artists, and time spent looking closely at the natural world. Rather than seeing each piece as a finished answer, I think of my practice as an ongoing exploration.
